River the Belgian Malinois and Hazel the pit bull/lab mix are all grown up now, but they starred in the Puppy Survival School courses when they were babies.
Later, we were joined by Bear the bull arab (an Australian hunting dog special) and Flower, who we thought was a cattle dog mix but whose DNA test revealed husky, malamute, kelpie, Rottweiler, Maremma, golden retriever, and not a single drop of cattle dog.
Merlin was a border collie and/or Australian shepherd who featured heavily in the puppy school training videos, silently (and sometimes not-so-silently) judging the proceedings. He passed recently at almost 16 years old.
