Maybe you’ve always dreamed of having an adventure dog to take hiking and camping, or a gentle companion to grow up with your kids.
But it can be hard to figure out exactly how to achieve those dreams. Because sometimes…
Raising a puppy can be REALLY frustrating. Does any of this sound familiar?
I get it. Been there myself, in fact. I know how exactly how stressful it can be.
The good news? Even if things kinda suck right now, it’s not too late.
I’ve been helping people in situations like these for years, and trust me: you CAN train your puppy, even if you feel like you have no clue what you’re doing.
I created Puppy Survival School, the sanity-saving program I wish I’d had when I was raising MY first puppy.
I’d waited my entire life for this moment. Now that it was here, I was regretting it…
For as long as I can remember, I wanted a dog. I did tons of research. I helped my friends care for their dogs. If anyone was ready for a puppy, man, it was ME.
Finally, the day arrived to start searching animal shelters for My Dog. I found her at the first shelter we visited. In the very last kennel was an eight-week old German shepherd mix, casually chewing on her toes as she waited for someone to rescue her from her boredom.
Her name was Friday. She was everything I wanted – or so I thought.
Fast forward two weeks, and it turned out Friday was actually the puppy from hell.
She would bite CONSTANTLY, and it seemed like everything I did to stop the biting just made it worse. She never listened. She had an attention span of three seconds. She whined all night long. She peed on my bed. She didn’t seem to like me much.
The feeling was mutual. This sucked.
I felt like such an idiot. Despite all my planning and research, I couldn’t get this puppy to behave.
Part of the problem was the sheer AMOUNT of information out there. Everyone had an opinion on how to train a dog, and they were all conflicting opinions!
The information overload paralyzed me into inaction.
And a lot of the “advice” I found was discouraging and judgy: Like, if my dog had behavior problems, I must be to blame. And if I had doubts and sometimes quietly wondered if I should find Friday a new home, I must be a terrible person.
It was all a bit much.
But I didn’t give up. Friday and I slogged our way through, trial and error. (Emphasis on “error”)
And somehow, miraculously, things got better.
And somehow, miraculously, this experience made me want to become a professional dog trainer, instead of swearing off dog training forever.
So I kept learning. Spent countless hours wading into the sea of conflicting advice.
Pulled out what worked, rejected what didn’t. I realized that some of the methods I’d used with Friday were outdated and unnecessarily harsh, which no doubt contributed to the problems I had bonding with her.
Since then, I’ve raised and helped raise many puppies. I figured out the strategies and training methods that turn an obnoxious puppy into a happy, well-behaved loyal buddy. Puppy training doesn’t drive me crazy anymore.
(Well, sometimes the puppies drive me crazy, but that’s just part of the experience)
Puppy Survival School is a comprehensive self-study online program (NEW: we now offer a package with one-on-one sessions with a trainer! More details below). It includes 64 videos, plus lots of written lessons. It’ll walk you through pretty much every aspect of training, socializing, and caring for a puppy. So you can spend less time Googling, and more time making progress with your puppy.
When you register, you get lifetime access. There are no deadlines, no expiration dates. So you can refer back to the lessons in the program as often as you need to, as long as you need to.
Puppy Survival School is designed for puppies up to five months of age. (Meaning your puppy can be up to five months old at the time of starting the program)
FOUNDATION – The core strategy for successfully raising a puppy, so you can get obnoxious behavior under control and prevent bad habits from developing.
UNDERSTANDING YOUR PUPPY – Everything you need to know about puppy behavior and body language, so you can communicate clearly and reduce frustration.
HOUSE TRAINING – A flexible, step-by-step plan that works for all work schedules and all living situations. It makes potty training as simple and drama-free as possible.
BITING – A guide to surviving the crazy puppy biting phase.
BABY OBEDIENCE TRAINING – Video tutorials for teaching your puppy important cues and manners, using fun games and puppy-friendly methods.
PUPPY LIFE SKILLS – The skills your pup needs to have in order to live harmoniously with people and your other pets.
SOCIALIZATION – A chilled-out socialization program. Teach your puppy about the world in a way that builds your bond, and turns them into the best dog they can be.
THE “WHAT THE **** WAS I THINKING” (WTFWIT) PHASE – A guide to the critical but often-ignored mental and emotional side of raising a puppy. Learn how to make it through the times when self-doubt starts eating you alive.
ACHIEVEMENT BADGES – Raising a puppy can be dull, thankless work. People go nuts over the flashy dog training stuff like tricks or agility, but no one seems to care when you get your puppy to FINALLY sleep through the night, or have fewer potty accidents this week than last week.
Well. WE care.
We know you work hard for this stuff, and it’s just as big an achievement as Roll Over and Play Dead, darn it!
With badges, we aim to give you a fun way to track your progress and celebrate all your wins along the way.
FORUMS – Where you can brag about your achievement badges, vent about the WTFWIT phase, ask questions, and discuss course content.
LIVE WORKSHOPS/Q AND A’S – I’ll be firing up my webcam to hang out with everyone and talk dogs. These events are a way to dive deeper into course topics, or even cover topics that aren’t included in the courses.
Don’t want to go it alone? Want me to give you direct advice and feedback? The private lessons option might be right for you!
This package includes the complete Puppy Survival School program, plus four one-hour video chats with us.
Video chats are held weekly via Zoom meeting, at a time that works for you.
What to expect:
At our first session, us humans will chat (no puppies necessary). We’ll ask you lots of questions so we can give you the most accurate advice possible, we’ll answer your questions, and create a personalized training plan.
Over the four weeks, we’ll give you homework to do, and have you upload videos of your puppy training so we can give you pointers.
At sessions 2-4, we’ll troubleshoot any issues that develop, and decide what to do next. If you’d like, you can even put your pup in front of the camera, and we’ll coach you, live, through a training session.
We’ve only just added this feature to the program, so we’re starting off with only a few spots. Sign up today to secure your spot!
If you have any questions about whether the private lessons package is right for you, send us an email at contact@3lostdogs.com.
This project started when I adopted River, a four-month-old Belgian Malinois.
Beginning on day one, I filmed everything I did with River. House training, problem solving, socializing, playing, adventuring, etc.
A few months later, I decided that River needed a friend, so I went back to the shelter and adopted Hazel, a three-month-old lab/pit bull mix.
I filmed everything I did with her, too.
All this footage became the Puppy Survival School.
This is no fancy studio production. These videos were recorded in my messy house, with my noisy housemates, with a resident cat who liked to wander into the shot.
You’ll see these puppies learning, making progress, and growing. I’ll even point out my mistakes.
You won’t have to use your imagination to figure out how all these lessons fit into real life, you’ll get to watch them happen in real life.
My aim is to help you feel less like a giant ball of anxiety. (I know some of us will always feel like a giant ball of anxiety no matter what, woohoo #mentalhealth, but still)
I won’t lie, this stuff does take work. Raising a puppy is never exactly a breeze, no matter what. But if you follow the program, you’ll be amazed at the progress you can make.
I can’t promise that your puppy will become the “perfect dog,” because all dogs are individual, unique living beings, not robots from the Perfect Dog factory.
But if you put in the work, things will get easier, you’ll be less stressed, and you and your dog will be ready for a lifetime of adventures together.

I’m confident that if you follow the advice in this puppy school, you’ll get great results.
But you don’t have to take my word for it: you have a full year (pretty much your puppy’s entire puppyhood!) to use the program.
If you decide it isn’t for you, send me an email within 365 days of purchase and I’ll refund 100% of your payment. Seriously, I want this program to make a real difference in your life, and if it doesn’t, I don’t want to keep your money.
Up to roughly five months of age, meaning your puppy can be up to five months old when you start the program.
Possibly. While the program is designed for young puppies, it can also help an older dog with things like house training, crate training, basic obedience and manners, and getting settled into their new home.
The program is not designed to help adult or adolescent dogs with problems related to: fear, aggression, reactivity, resource guarding, pulling on leash, poor socialization history, or predatory behavior toward other pets. If you’re still unsure, email me at contact@3lostdogs.com, and I’ll let you know if the program is appropriate for your dog.
That’s up to you! This isn’t like a puppy class with a set schedule or end date. Work through the courses at your own pace.
There’s enough training material to guide you through at least the next three months of your puppy’s life. And then the program will serve as a resource to refer back to as your pup gets older.
This is a lifetime membership. It’s not a subscription, and there are no recurring fees. As long as the 3 Lost Dogs Academy exists, you’ll have access to the program. (And, barring the zombie apocalypse, we plan on being around for a good long while)
I mean, if you want to wait to buy it, you can – we’re not going anywhere! But it would be a good idea to get it now. That way, you’ll be prepared to prevent problems and teach good behavior starting on day one with your puppy.
And since you get a lifetime membership to Puppy Survival School for one payment, it doesn’t matter if you adopt a puppy tomorrow or in two years, you’ll still have access to the program.
Nope! This is an online course with lots of videos, as well as written lessons. Access it with your username and password from anywhere, on any device.
Yep! The design is fully responsive, for a great experience on any device. Take the courses on your computer, phone, and/or tablet.
